Well, it’s a little sad, but I’m taking down the Christmas decorations. The tree will probably come down next weekend…I’m just focusing on all the “extras”. It’s funny. Last year I packed up all of my snowman decorations, thinking I would put those up when I took down the Christmas ones. That’s kinda a lot of work though, to decorate twice for the holidays. And frankly, when I’m done with the decorations, I’m kinda done. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do that better? My initial reasoning behind it was because I had too many decorations to put out at once. Maybe next year I should just put out a mixture of snowmen and Christmas and keep some put away.
A few days ago I received a wonderful email in my inbox from MountainWings.com . It is a letter written as if from Jesus. There are a few good reminders in it as we continue to celebrate this special season. I hope you enjoy it.
Hi again! Hey, I did a lot of posting about Christmas on Hometown Holidays last year at this time. If you are interested in reading about last year’s Christmas preparations, please check out the Christmas posts in the category drop-down list to the right. Thanks!
Ok, so I’m a few days early, but please let me be the first to wish you Merry Christmas! Perhaps I’m in a festive mood today because we got a lot of that crazy white stuff (something like 7 inches maybe) and I didn’t have to go in to work today. Whoopie! After shoveling and snowblowing our walks and driveway, I wrapped some presents and worked on our mailing labels for our Christmas cards. Ummm, ok, so like they’ll be Christmas/New Year’s cards at this point. Doesn’t that happen to everyone? I was so focused on getting all of our friends and family’s addresses into my Yahoo contacts so that they are in one standard format. And then I didn’t have the correct labels, so the formatting was off. My wonderful husband Tony just went out to get me the proper labels. Perhaps I should give the dreaded label project another go. 🙂
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to all!
Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone. I hope you had a fantastic one! My sister hosted Tony and I, and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable time. We ate, drumroll please: turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, cranberries, rolls, cherry salad, green salad and pumpkin pie! Yummy yummy! Next up, Christmas! I just took down most of our fall decorations and we got the boxes in from the garage. This weekend we’ll put up the tree. Yippee! Enjoy everyone! Please let me know how you’ll decorate for the holidays!
Today is Veteran’s Day. Are you flying your flag? I forgot about it until a little earlier today, at work. I was heading home early, so I wrote myself a note to remember to put it up. However, it is sleeting here, so I don’t think that is the best move. Tony and his Dad put the flag holder up a few months ago…this would have been the perfect day to fly the flag. Oh well. Thank you to all of the veterans! We appreciate all that you have done for our country. And thank you to our current armed forces as well. Whether or not we agree with the wars being fought, we do certainly appreciate your sacrifices. God bless!
