New Year’s Eve and Day is upon us

Well, Christmas Day is over, although we are still in the Christmas season.  There is another holiday come up.  Yes, that’s right, it’s New Year’s Eve/Day.  People celebrate New Year’s Eve in many ways.  Some people have a quiet night at home, surrounded by family and friends.  Others dress up and go to fancy hotels to dance the night away, followed by a balloon drop.

How are we celebrating? We are going out of town to celebrate with my college friends.  This New Year’s Eve event has been going on for many years…I (and now Tony) generally attend every third year or so.  This year, we will be staying overnight at a repurposed convent in Dubuque, Iowa. We’ll be leaving Chicago sometime after lunch and taking a leisurely drive through Galena, arriving in Dubuque around dinner time.  While in Galena, I think we’ll visit the Galena Popcorn Company, which makes yummy candied popcorn.  I just called, and they are open until about 6.  So, while in Dubuque, we’ll eat, play board games, and enjoy each others company.  Good times! I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

How will you celebrate the holiday? Please comment and let me know. Cheers!  Oh, and if you are going to drink this holiday, please have a designated driver, ok?
